What is your cancellation policy?
If it becomes necessary to cancel a booking, the deposit shall become refundable, less a $25.00 per person bookkeeping charge (plus HST), including children, provided that notice of said cancellation has been received by the hotel seven (7) days prior to the confirmed arrival date.
The main difference between a one-bedroom suite and a one-bedroom cottage is location and groupings. Our Terrace Suites are generally located near the water and the decks face the water. The suites are usually grouped in series of three to five units. The Edgewater cottages are located past our beach area and not all have a lake view. The units are either independent cottages or are in groups of two. They all have deck areas as well. We also have larger independent cottages that are two and three bedrooms that are located throughout the property. The primary difference between lodge style and suite and cottage accommodation is the suite and cottage accommodation has a living room area separate from the bedroom area. Suite and cottage accommodation also has a deck and a vanity area in the living room. Lodge style (hotel style) accommodation is just one room with a bathroom, no sitting room or living room exists with this type of room. The capacity for guests at Clevelands House varies depending on the type of guests we have here. The single adult capacity is 158 people, the double occupancy capacity is 316 people, and during family season our capacity can be anywhere between 450 to 506 people with the family make up being the factor that plays the largest role in our high guest counts. But don’t worry! On 408 acres of fun filled beautiful Muskoka property you will never feel crowded. Clevelands House has a total of 158 units on the property. There are a total of 193 separate bedrooms. Our North Lodge has 38 standard hotel rooms, the Main Hotel has 26 standard hotel rooms, the Manor House has 9 rooms, the Minett Lodge has 11 standard rooms. Our deluxe accommodation breakdown is the following: 28 Suites, 13 one bedroom bungalows, 16 two bedroom bungalows, 7 three bedroom bungalows, and 3 one room cottages. Some of our return guests often bring snacks and beverages to keep in their bar fridges in their room for in between meals. Some other suggestions are a hair dryer, shampoo and soap (small bars are provided in the room) back packs or bags for the children to keep their bathing suits, hats and towels in for the program, sunscreen and bug repellent. Our large common areas have large screen televisions and VCRs if you wish to bring your own movies and all our televisions can be hooked up to a VCR or video games if you wish to bring your own for your room from home (don’t forget the cables!). Beach towels can be taken out on a daily basis from the Pro Shop without a fee, provided that they are returned. Our guest rooms have all of the comforts of time spend at the cottage. We offer complimentary wireless internet access and each room has it’s own mini fridge for your own snacks and beverages. Your room rate also includes complementary access to over 100 social / recreation events, live entertainment for families and adults, and access to all of our resort amenities (with a few exceptions that require a small additional charge – but at a discount for our resort guests!). There are laundry facilities available here for the use of our guests. Laundry soap can be purchased or if you wish you can bring your own from home. There are several coin operated machines and dryers as well as an iron. Guests of Clevelands House are more than welcome to bring their own watercraft. You need only to advise our reservations department either when you book or in advance of your arrival so that we can give you a parking tag for your watercraft and show you the parking areas on the site and which dock slip is yours for your stay. Our guest only docking system will be booked on a first come, first serve basis, so let us know as soon as you decide to bring watercraft with you. So that there will be no misunderstandings, we must insist that you do not bring any pets with you.Accommodation

What is the beach like?
Clevelands House has a large, shallow sandy beach area that is available for all our guests. Lake Rosseau is a fresh water lake that is ideal for swimming and is one of the three Muskoka Lakes . The lake is usually quite warm by the end of June (75 degrees or so) with the shallow water at the beach area being much warmer. The beach is very shallow for approximately fifty feet out and is often utilized by parents of small children that can only wade.
What types of recreation do you offer?
Included in your room rate is complimentary access to over 100 recreational events each week including daily tournaments like bocce ball and beach volleyball, round robin tennis tournaments, guided hikes, yoga and fitness classes. Fishing is available in the area on both Lake Rosseau and the other Muskoka Lakes . Many guests fish directly off our dock. Early morning and early evening are the best times. Guests under 18 do not require a fishing license.
Is there golfing available?
Absolutely. We have our own 18 hole golf course, The Rock, designed by Nick Faldo as well as a small par 3 course. Both are available at discounted rates for our resorts guests. Click HERE to visit the Rock’s website.
Children
What is the children’s program like?
The children’s program here at Clevelands House is one of the best programs offered in Canada . It operates daily with the exception of Sundays and is similar to a day camp with many planned activities such as arts and crafts, theme days, nature walks and sports activities. The children are grouped according to age, for example 3 & 4 year olds are one group, 5 & 6 another. Our program caters to children ages 3 to 11, teens and pre-teens, as well as an infants and toddlers program.
The Nursery & Toddler programs run from 9:45 am to 12:30 p.m. and then from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We have within our Toddler area age specific toys and a small-scale climber. There are activities for the “little ones” to do that are geared toward their capabilities and again the toddlers are grouped together according to age.
The regular program runs from 9:45am to 4:30pm and again from 6:15pm to 7:30pm on the nights it is offered. The children are divided into groups according to age in the following categories: 3 / 4 yr. olds, 5 / 6 yr. olds, 7-9 yr. olds and 9-11 yr. olds. There is a sports program offered for the older children starting at age 7. This sports program would have a greater focus on sports activities and less arts and crafts. Lunch is served during the day program with menus geared towards the appetites of children. The evening program includes dinner and a different children’s entertainer each evening it is offered.
The teen program offers various planned activities throughout the day that the teens can join in on as they interest them.
For all activities a daily agenda is given to parents so that if they want to meet up with their children they know where their group will be.
Can I take my child out of the program during the day?
Children can be taken in and out of the program as the parents wish, the parents need only to sign out the child with the counsellor. Upon registration the parents can indicate if they wish their child to be able to come and go as they choose. A full agenda will be given upon registration as well as general program information.
Is babysitting available in the evening?
Babysitting is available here at Clevelands House from our staff. The private sitters can be arranged through the front desk at a rate of $12.00 an hour. Hall babysitting is available each evening free of charge in our larger standard accommodation buildings. Hall sitting is where staff members are posted in the hallways and watch a block of rooms at once. Parents sign in with the hall sitter and indicate their children’s names and ages and provide a key for the room. Any special instructions regarding the children and the destination of the parents can also be given. Generally, it is not possible to arrange babysitting during the day as all our staff are working and the program is operating.
